How big is The Main? For starters, Tuesday’s VIP lunch for 200 people didn’t even fill the small ballroom – which can seat 500.
A floor up is the 18,300-square-foot grand ballroom, which holds 1,200 for a banquet and 2,000 for a reception.
Few things are done small at Norfolk’s new downtown Hilton hotel and conference center. It has 21 stories, 300 rooms, six elevators and a rooftop beer bar with 80 taps. It will have 490 employees.
The Main’s official opening April 3 will follow almost three years of construction – and before that, an even longer debate over what to do with the site at the prime corner of Granby and Main streets.
