Panel Puts Onus On Board To Pursue Economic Growth

Shenandoah County needs to change how it pursues economic growth, some Industrial Development Authority members say.

The authority recently made a pitch to the Board of Supervisors to make changes to the agency, both in name and management. Whether or not supervisors support the authority’s request to change the agency’s name to an economic development authority and to create a management position remains uncertain as county leaders start discussing the fiscal 2018 budget.

Former county administrator Vincent Poling serves as chairman of the Industrial Development Authority and gave a report to the supervisors at a recent work session.
