$1.75 Million Settlement Reached After Fatal Accidents At Danville Goodyear Plant

Goodyear will pay $1.75 million in penalties following state investigations into four workplace deaths at the Danville plant over a one-year period.

The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry’s Virginia Occupational Safety and Health program announced Friday a joint settlement agreement with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and the United Steelworkers union with respect to the department’s investigations of the accidents that occurred between August 2015 and August 2016, according to a news release.

The agreement provides for a total of $1.75 million in penalties, $1 million of which will be paid by Goodyear to the state.
