It's beginning to sound like a broken record.
Yep, another one. The Port of Virginia started 2017 with its best January ever.
Its terminals moved 228,516 containers, measured in standard 20-foot units, or TEUs, an industry benchmark. That's a gain of 18.5 percent from the same month last year.
The improvement came despite two lost workdays to snow.
Export units were up 17.5 percent, year over year; imports, 19.6 percent. Rail containers were up 27.3 percent; truck containers up 10.1 percent.
