Roanoke Business Accelerator Opens

Roanoke’s new business accelerator was unveiled on Thursday, as the public was invited to tour a facility that local leaders hope will soon house some of the most promising regional startups .

For now, the Regional Acceleration and Mentoring Program — which goes by the acronym RAMP — looks like an average office space on the third floor of the old Gill Memorial Hospital Building in downtown Roanoke, complete with separate rooms for five companies, shared meeting areas and a kitchen.

The idea, Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council (RBTC) board member Sam English explained, is to pull the region’s entrepreneurs into RAMP and give them everything they need to take their businesses to the next level.
