BWX Technologies’ fuel facility on Mt. Athos Road in Campbell County received a clean bill of health from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in its biannual Licensee Performance Review.
The review covered the period between Jan. 1, 2015, through Dec. 31, 2016, and studied areas such as safety operations, radiological controls and facility support.
“BWXT continues to conduct licensed activities safely and securely, protecting public health and the environment,” NRC’s senior resident inspector for BWXT, Charlie Stancil, said in a webinar presenting the inspection results to the public Wednesday. “They have established satisfactory performance, and no areas needing improvement were identified.”
