Starting July 1, workforce development programs in the Lynchburg region will come under new management.
At a meeting Tuesday of the Region 2000 Workforce Development Board — made up of local economic development officials, representatives from the business community and education professionals — members voted to take control of the Youth Works program from Goodwill Industries of the Valleys and manage it themselves.
The Youth Works program aims to connect young people ages 14 to 24 both in and out of school with job training, career exploration and mentoring to help them find steady, high-paying jobs.
