Centra Health will be going before the Lynchburg Economic Development Authority on Thursday morning to request $50 million in new Virginia Industrial Development and Revenue Bonds to add facilities and improve existing ones in and around the Lynchburg area.
Combined with other revenue and $230 million of refinanced bonds Centra is requesting, the health system has tentative plans to use the funds for additional parking at Lynchburg General Hospital, a new medical facility in Campbell County near U.S 29 and U.S. 460 and an Ambulatory Medical Office Building at a yet-to-be-determined location to consolidate general surgery and other specialists.
Other potential projects include adding additional clinical beds at Lynchburg General Hospital, expansions to Virginia Baptist Hospital’s Acute Rehabilitation Center and pediatric psychological services and an expansion to the Stroobants Cardiovascular Center.
