Local branding agency At Media has relaunched as Cohere, a creative agency on a mission to revitalize cities through the power of design.
Cohere is shaking up the traditional agency model by breaking the mold and launching a purpose-driven mission. Formerly At Media, their focus on placemaking projects in real estate, hospitality and economic development has shaped them as influencers in the neighborhoods of the cities they work in: Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Denver. Rebranding as Cohere is a way to now claim a further stake in the reurbanization movement. As Cohere, the company plans to have an impact on over 4M square feet of space in 2017 alone, with exciting upcoming including working with Caves Valley Partners to redesign Cross Street Market.
“Cohere means to be united and to form a whole,” said Antoinette Marie Johnson, CEO and founder of Cohere. “For us, this means to connect design efforts to the redevelopment of cities through working on projects where we live, work and play.”
Founded in 2009, At Media has worked with notable clients including Urban Land Institute (ULI), Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore, Caves Valley Partners, David S. Brown Enterprises, Wexford Science + Tech, COPT, JLL, University of Pennsylvania, HipCityVeg, and the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership. In 2015, the company opened a satellite office in Baltimore, MD, spearheaded by Chris Richards, the director of business development. Now as Cohere, the company will continue working in both Philadelphia and Baltimore with plans to expand their reach into additional cities, which currently include Washington DC; Denver, CO; and more.
“As Cohere, we want to create brands that are compelling to the people living in these cities, and help spur more positive change throughout the city through these projects,” said Richards. “We’re working directly with some highly influential people, including real estate developers and city organizations, so I’m excited to see how our cities will look a few years from now.”
Cohere announced their rebranding with the launch of the company’s new website (www.cohere.city), with a personal letter from Johnson on At Media’s original website (www.atmediadesign.com). In the letter, Johnson writes:
“As Cohere, we are working with the change agents and taste makers that are part of a reurbanization revolution.
We still do everything you know us for - branding, design, web development, and marketing - but we do it with a greater purpose and focus. To choose projects that start with abandoned or underutilized spaces, and create more cohesive experiences where we live, work, and play. All to help ensure the growth of our cities is sustainable and that the changes taking place are for the betterment of all involved.
Some call it placemaking. We call it progress.”
