If Thanksgiving seems too far away to make apple pie, wait no longer — apples have come early this year.
Area orchardists said much of their fruit came in early this year due to the warm winter in January and February, which caused early blooming.
The first variety of apples, Lodi or June apples, typically come in around the Fourth of July, but growers were picking them off trees in mid-June.
