Monday night crowds clinked pint glasses of Deschutes beer in the facility’s much-anticipated new tasting room in downtown Roanoke. The bar officially begin pouring beers for the public at 5 p.m. at its new 315 Market St. location, across from the Hampton Inn & Suites hotel.
People began lining up to get a first glimpse inside more than an hour before the tasting room opened. By the time the doors were unlocked, the line stretched nearly two blocks to Market Square.
Black Butte Porter, Fresh Squeezed IPA and other Deschutes favorites are on tap and soon will be joined by experimental brews that will only be found in Roanoke. A 20-barrel brewing system soon will be serving up specialty beers just for this site.
