Virginia has more than 20,000 openings for cyber-security jobs, according to a 2015 job market report by Burning Glass Technologies. Germanna Community College plans to prepare students to fill that need by establishing an associate of applied science degree in cyber-security.
The Germanna Community College Local College Board approved new curriculum necessary to create the degree at its Sep. 21 meeting.
The two-year degree will prepare students for technician and analyst jobs in the cyber-security field. Germanna also offers noncredit workforce development training in cyber-security.
