9 Local Ship-Repair Firms Out Of 10 To Share In Big Navy Contract

Nine Hampton Roads ship-repair firms are among 10 that have been awarded a share in a Navy maintenance contract worth $119.1 million over one year.

If all options are exercised, the contract could be worth up to $644 million and continue for five years.

“This is a great opportunity for all of us,” said Don Everton, director of government contracts at Lyon Shipyard in Norfolk, one of the yards included. “This helps distribute the Navy work to some of the smaller businesses.”
