Touting Economic Initiatives In Virginia, Mcauliffe Headlines Summit

Virginia is headed in the right direction when it comes to job creation, and qualifying its students and workforce for the technological challenges of the future continues to be a prime directive of his administration, Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Monday during the Governor’s Summit on Rural Prosperity at Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center.

“We’re a different state than we were four years ago,” said McAuliffe, citing statistics revealing the state’s unemployment claims are at a 44-year low, the lowest since 1973.

“We have 4,143,000 people in our workforce,” said McAuliffe, further adding that Virginia’s population will hit 10 million in the next 10 years, making Virginia the 10th largest state in terms of population.
