Jim Bourey brings some 40 years of management and development experience to a new advisory role with the city.
Bourey was contracted last month to assist with city economic development efforts, including greater cooperation with Washington County, Virginia, and — potentially — other area entities. He is employed as the director of management services for McGill Associates in Newport News, a post he’s held since June.
“What we want him to do is come in and look at everything we’re doing — from the client base we’ve been trying to recruit historically to our process and how we’re doing it — and work with entities around us like Washington County to get a better, consolidated approach to what we’re doing,” Mayor Kevin Mumpower said Monday.
