Virginia plans to try a new tack to recover losses on an Appomattox business deal, a legal effort that so far has borne no fruit.
But as costs mount for taxpayers in the 19-month-old case, the odds of reclaiming the money may not improve.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership is trying to advance a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Lindenburg Industry, which failed to return a $1.4 million state grant related to a scuttled factory project.
Since the company hasn’t fully participated in prior court proceedings, a new effort will be made to get the suit in the hands of Lindenburg officials and seek a response, according to proceedings Friday in Appomattox County Circuit Court.
