New Martin Agency CEO Speaks About Taking Over During Sexual Misconduct Crisis

Kristen Cavallo became CEO of The Martin Agency last week in the midst of an alleged sexual misconduct scandal that led to the ouster of the advertising firm’s chief creative officer, Joe Alexander.

Cavallo is replacing former CEO Matt Williams, whose exit has not been publicly linked to any wrongdoing. Cavallo, who worked at Martin from 1998 to 2011, has lived in Richmond while commuting to her job at MullenLowe Group in Boston since.

Cavallo sat down Friday with The Times-Dispatch in a wide-ranging interview in which she said she believes the accusers who have shared their stories of mistreatment even as she did not experience anything similar during her time at Martin. She also spoke about what she sees as her role in leading the company through a crisis.
