Port Of Virginia To Close Terminal Truck Gates On Thursday Due To Snow

All of the Port of Virginia's terminal gates in the region will be closed on Thursday because of the snow expected to hit Hampton Roads as part of the incoming winter storm, the port announced on Wednesday.

“We are executing our winter weather plan and are prepared for what’s to come,” said John Reinhart, executive director and CEO of the Virginia Port Authority, in a statement.

“Our focus now is making sure everyone gets home safely. Once the storm passes we must ensure that we have the proper conditions for the safe resumption of operations.”

Gates at Virginia International Gateway in Portsmouth were to close at 5 p.m. Wednesday to all inbound traffic.
