Virginia Port Board Awards CEO Bonus Of $220,000-Plus

Two weeks after the port announced another record year for container volume – its sixth consecutive best year in a row – the board of the Virginia Port Authority credited its top executive with leading the charge.

The board unanimously agreed to give John Reinhart, executive director and CEO of the Virginia Port Authority, 95 percent of the incentive pay for which he was eligible, or about $220,162. He’ll receive that on top of his base pay, now about $463,500.

“The port had a very fine year and, therefore, Mr. Reinhart, in terms of his performance and meeting metrics, also had a very fine year,” said John Milliken, the authority’s board chairman.

Reinhart took over as the port’s top executive on Feb. 10, 2014, after which container volume boomed and the authority’s finances, which had seen consecutive operating losses, stabilized.
