When Alma Lewis heard Carnival would return to Norfolk next year, she was already fantasizing about endless buffets, casino games and a balcony overlooking the ocean.
If Lewis, 88, books one of the upcoming cruises, it won’t be her first time seeing Bahaman beaches. She and her late husband, Roland Lewis, took a cruise from the city to the same destination in 1977.
In a spiral notebook, which she leafs through when she’s feeling nostalgic, he wrote details of their trip: Tickets for the TSS Carnivale, where they slept in bunk beds, were $205 each.
“You won’t find that today,” said Lewis with a laugh, who has taken 19 cruises in her life.
