Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) DC invites members and the public for “The Future is Female: Women, Politics and Real Estate”, a lively discussion focused at the intersection of politics and real estate on Tuesday, March 13th. Moderator and 2018 CREW DC President, Barbara Mackin of Citizens Financial Group, Inc. will lead the discussion as Democratic Committee of Maryland Chair, Kathleen Matthews, and Past Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party and current President of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women, Diana Waterman, share their party’s real estate initiatives regarding infrastructure spending, tax reform, public expenditures and much more. They will also share their personal stories of navigating the male- dominated field of politics and encourage more women to get involved.

Kathleen Ann Matthews is the former chief communications and public affairs officer for hotel company Marriott International. Prior to joining Marriott International, she was a reporter for 25 years at WJLA-TV. She was a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives for Maryland's 8th congressional district in the 2016 elections. She is the current chair for the Maryland Democratic Party.

Diana Waterman is currently serving as the President of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women. She finished her second term as Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party in January 2017. During her tenure, she led the Party through two very successful election cycles, helping to elect a Republican President in 2016, and in 2014, helping to elect Governor Larry Hogan, increase GOP numbers in both the State House and Senate, and dramatically enlarge the number of locally elected Republicans.
