Federal Agency OKs Start Of Pipeline Construction In Giles County

Trees that stand in the way of the Mountain Valley Pipeline could soon begin falling in Giles County.

On Monday, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission granted a request from the project’s developer to begin construction on parts of the 303-mile natural gas pipeline that will pass through the county.

Although tree-cutting has already started in West Virginia, where the pipeline will originate, FERC’s approval allows the work to cross the state line into Virginia.
