Gov. Ralph Northam announced that Gloucester County’s first utility-scale solar farm was issued a Department of Environmental Quality permit, moving the project closer to fruition.
North Carolina-based Strata Solar Development is working to build and operate Gloucester Solar LLC, a 20-megawatt solar farm that could power more than 4,000 homes, the governor said.
The solar facility is planned on a 200-acre farmland site along Route 14 between Toddsbury and Waverly lanes. The Board of Supervisors approved the $30 million project in April last year.
