The courtship of Amazon picked up this week in Northern Virginia, where Gov. Ralph Northam met with company officials who toured four sites proposed by the state and local governments for the coveted HQ2 headquarters planned by the Seattle-based retail colossus.
Northam said Friday that he had breakfast with Amazon officials on Tuesday morning, but declined to discuss any incentives the state is offering to land the $5 billion project in Northern Virginia, one of 20 regions still in consideration in the sweepstakes that the company launched in September.
“We had some real good discussions with Amazon,” the governor said in an informal meeting with reporters at the Capitol.
