Volunteers of America Chesapeake Names Sheryl Neverson as VP of Maryland Programs

Volunteers of America Chesapeake (VOA), a faith-based, health and human services nonprofit, is pleased to announce that Sheryl Neverson, Ph.D., LICSW, LCSW-C has been appointed as its new vice president of Maryland programs.

With more than 20 years of experience in the management of clinical and programmatic services, Neverson will be responsible for providing Clinical and Administrative oversight to the Maryland Programs. These programs serve neighbors who experience homelessness or are at risk to be homeless, individuals with mental illness, individuals with intellectual disabilities, those in need of affordable housing or supportive services, those recovering from substance abuse addictions, and those involved in community corrections.

A professional truly dedicated to her industry, she serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Howard University in Washington, DC. Neverson also regularly speaks and publishes articles about social work. She is a licensed social worker in Maryland, independent clinical social worker in D.C., certified trauma systems therapist, certified trauma systems trainer, multi-systematic therapist, functional family therapist and community based intervention II/III. She also holds a co-occurring disorders clinical competency certificate.

Neverson earned her Ph.D. in Social Work from Howard University, Masters of Social Work from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland.
