Sterling-based JK Moving has placed an offer to purchase 424 acres next to Dulles International Airport from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
The property, known as Western Lands, has been heavily marketed over the past year by the authority, which manages Dulles and Reagan National airports. Western Lands is located between Route 606 and the airport's western-most runway, and the property has been pitched as a potential site for the Washington Redskins' next stadium or an equine quarantine facility.
The Western Lands bid is one element of fast-growing JK Moving's grand ambitions for the years ahead.
Chuck Kuhn, JK's CEO and founder, said the company hopes to land not only the Western Lands property, but also to finalize the purchase of another property in Loudoun County. The precise location of the latter property has not been disclosed.
