Donations support programs and operations for Boys & Girls Clubs in Carroll County, Harford County and Baltimore City

Point Breeze Credit Union has donated a total of $30,000 to three Boys & Girls Club centers throughout Maryland. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Westminster, Harford County and Baltimore City each received donations of $10,000 to support their club members.

The Boys & Girls Club of Westminster will use the donation towards operating its programs, including the robotics club, art program, garden club and job shadow field trips. The club offers its members over 20 programs, which help young people succeed in school, develop leadership skills and maintain healthy lifestyles.

“We are so thankful for the continued support from Point Breeze Credit Union. This donation allows us to enrich our club members’ experience through programs such as robotics, baking, gardening and art,” shared Bonnae Meshulam, Executive Director with the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster. “Many of our kids would not have an opportunity to explore these activities without the help of Point Breeze Credit Union.”

In Baltimore City, the donation will provide full scholarships for 25 children to attend the Brooklyn O’Malley Boys & Girls Club’s summer program. It is a six-week program that focuses on health and wellbeing through outdoor activities.

Point Breeze Credit Union’s donation will also support the Bel Air Boys & Girls Club’s Youth Celebration Dinner, which is its largest annual fundraiser. The dinner will be held April 5 and will celebrate the youth that the club serves.

“A donation at the level Point Breeze has given has a significant impact on our ability to serve more youth more often,” said Derek Dewitt, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties. “An unrestricted gift allows us to focus resources on our day-to-day operations. Without support like Point Breeze has given we wouldn’t be able to have the same positive influence on so many kids and teens every day.”

“We are proud to support our local Boys & Girls Clubs,” said Bernie McLaughlin, President and CEO at Point Breeze Credit Union. “Westminster, Bel Air and Baltimore City are communities where our members and employees live and work. It’s our mission to give back to further support and strengthen our communities.”

The credit union has offices in Westminster, Bel Air and Rosedale, in addition to locations in Hunt Valley and Owings Mills.
