The JACQUES Initiative, a program of the Institute, to Occupy Third Floor of 880 Park Avenue

KLNB, the multi-service commercial real estate firm, today announced that the JACQUES Initiative, a program of the world-renowned Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, has signed a lease at 880 Park Avenue in Baltimore, Md., a three-story, 22,000-square-foot building situated in the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore City. The JACQUES Initiative will occupy the 7,369-square-foot third floor and plans to be fully operational in the space by this June. Jesse Schwartzman, associate at KLNB, represented the owner, Jabber Five Real Estate Group. The JACQUES Initiative was self-represented in this transaction.

This will be the third location in West Baltimore for the JACQUES Initiative, a program that is dedicated to helping people live free of, or live well with, HIV and Hepatitis C. The organization’s other locations include nearby academic and medical settings on the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus.

Executive Director of the JACQUES Initiative, Jamie Mignano, MSN, MPH, RN,  said, “In our search for new space, we sought a location that would reflect back to us the warm nature of the care and services we provide. Utilizing a space that would allow us to create a community center atmosphere, with amenities such as a community garden and a place for our clients to socialize, was important to us. But, we also needed to offer our clients easy access to public transportation and proximity to the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus and local pharmacies. We found it all at 880 Park Ave. and we’re overjoyed to call Mount Vernon our new home.”

Previously owned by the Archdioceses of Baltimore and occupied by the Catholic Review, 880 Park Avenue was purchased by Jabber Five Real Estate Group in August 2017. The space boasts an open floor plan, key card access into the building and onto each floor, private and open spaces and free garage parking on street level, as well as close proximity to arts and culture including The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Brewer’s Art, The Lyric and The Walter’s Art Gallery, Penn Station, Light Rail and all major surrounding highways. Prominent exterior signage opportunities in three locations and on both sides of the building are also available, facing Chase Street and Park Avenue.

“It’s been a pleasure to represent Jabber Five in this transaction and to work with the JACQUES Initiative,” said Jesse Schwartzman. “We’ve had a lot of interest in the remaining 7,400 square feet on the second floor and we’re anticipating the asset to be fully leased within a short period of time.” He added, “Free, covered parking in the middle of Mount Vernon is a big draw for our prospective tenants and virtually impossible to find elsewhere in the area.”
