Agritourism, Hemp Leads ‘State Of The Rural Economy’ Discussion

Community leaders, business owners and agriculturists came together last week to discuss the direction of growth in Loudoun County and what the future holds for the area’s rural western expanses, an area deeply rooted in agritourism.

More than 100 people gathered at Fabbioli Cellars near Lucketts March 13 for the “State of the Rural Economy” discussion hosted by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce as part of its Policymaker Series, a group of events aimed at helping businesses understand the county’s economic climate and the quality of life of its residents.

Agritourism is an economic driver in Loudoun County, an area that has some of the best soil in the state and has managed to conserve its farmland, while at the same time be courted by tech industry giant Amazon Web Services, said keynote speaker Bettina Ring, Virginia’s secretary of agricultural and forestry.
