Franklin County Supervisors Postpone Decision On Pipeline Monitoring Agreement

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors voted to hold off on signing an agreement that would allow county staff to accompany state regulators on pipeline inspections.

During a Tuesday meeting, some board members said they weren’t ready to sign the memorandum of agreement with the Department of Environmental Quality that would provide the county some role in overseeing construction of the Mountain Valley Pipeline.

Rocky Mount District Supervisor Mike Carter said he wasn’t comfortable entering into the agreement when DEQ has yet to release a complete report assessing erosion and sediment control plans for the project.
