Solar farms in Campbell County are one step closer to reality after the planning commission unanimously approved public hearing schedules for proposed language changes to the county’s zoning ordinance to address the installation of solar facilities in the area during a Monday night meeting.
Paul Harvey, director of community development for Campbell County, brought draft language before the Campbell County Planning Commission in a Feb. 26 meeting, but commissioners asked for additional clarification about a timeline for returning the site to its original state after a project is shut down.
“It is new,” Chairman and Spring Hill representative William Kirk said about solar energy in Campbell County. “I think we were wise to just step back and ask some questions, if nothing else.”
