TechHire is gaining momentum. A little over a year after the Lynchburg Office of Economic Development piloted the White House initiative aimed at helping communities train workers for jobs in science, technology and math, the program has four graduates and four on the waiting list to get in.
Graduate Shawn Witcher already has a full-time job.
Through TechHire, Witcher completed a six-month apprenticeship with Innovative Wireless Technologies last spring and was hired as a full-time engineering technician last fall.
