The Afton Inn will not be demolished, at least not all of it.
The Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority at its Thursday meeting approved a $2.5 million renovation of the Afton Inn by developer 2 East Main St.
Plans call for the structure’s original four walls to remain while the annexed portion of the building facing North Royal Avenue will be demolished.
Although the four original walls will survive, EDA Executive Director Jennifer McDonald said the building may not have the same appearance. This comes after the Town Council in September approved the EDA’s demolition request for the building.
