Campbell County supervisors delayed approval on zoning ordinance updates related to the installation of solar energy facilities in a meeting this week.
This came after a public hearing Tuesday evening where supervisors heard from Kyle West, a representative from one of the three firms interested in installing solar facilities in Campbell County. No one else spoke at the public hearing.
Earlier this year, the board of supervisors and planning commission asked County Administrator Frank Rogers and his staff to draft updates to the county’s zoning ordinance after receiving three proposals for new solar farms in the area. Campbell County, which has no solar farms, currently has no regulations specifically addressing solar energy.
