SIXTEEN COMMERCIALLY-VIABLE TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES TO TAKE THE STAGE
NEW: Momentum Slate of Companies Added to Program
As part of its commitment to provide a platform for private, technology-based companies across sector and stage of development, the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) will spotlight 16 companies on June 6th from 1:00 – 7:30pm at Oath’s Serriff Auditorium in Dulles, Virginia. In celebration of the 20th edition of the TechBUZZ program to-date, presenting companies will include not only ten early market entrants – many presenting their business for the first time in front of the professional business community – but now six more advanced “T/B Momentum” companies who have exhibited proven customer traction. Companies selected to present on the TechBUZZ stage represent a diverse range of industry sectors for which the mid-Atlantic region is known, including data/analytics, cloud, healthIT, fintech, software/SaaS, and more.
“MAVA piloted its TechBUZZ program in 2010 as a response to the pull-back in capital deployment post-recession. Our Board saw the need to support the earliest of market-ready and backable innovative companies hitting the market, and at that time there was no regional platform these companies could to turn to for this type of support,” said Julia Spicer, Executive Director of MAVA. “Over the past 19 editions, TechBUZZ has served as a consistent and trusted platform for elevating technology-based solutions to business and consumer problems. With the help of our members, we have helped launch 368 companies into the market, who collectively have received more than $770M+ in disclosed post-presentation funding.”
Featured companies are selected because of their innovative technology, approach to a consumer or enterprise problem, or a new twist to a market maker’s approach. Each company will describe their respective business, vision, and product or service within a tightly-timed, four- to five- minute window. Those in attendance will also hear industry insights and guidance from active investors following the company presentations, as a means to help educate aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. Presenting companies were selected from a highly competitive pool of diverse companies by a review and selection committee of more than 20 MAVA member investors and business advisors. The TechBUZZ 20th Edition Review & Selection Committee was Co-Chaired by Matt Bressler, TDF Ventures; Tina Moran, Route 66 Ventures; and Sever Totia, 3TS Capital.
