What sold him on his storefront back in 2009 was the charming picture window. It certainly wasn’t the patter of footsteps on the sidewalk – there wasn’t much. For years, he dealt with construction outside and clung to a few loyal customers, many of whom were lawyers with nearby offices.
“Prayer” was his survival strategy, he said recently while shutting his eyes and chuckling. “Nothing but the grace of God.”
