Miles & Stockbridge continues its strategic expansion in the Washington Metropolitan Area with the addition of senior corporate lawyer Robert B. Webb III to the firm’s Tysons Corner, Virginia, office. Webb, who joins as a principal, devotes much of his corporate law practice to information technology and government contracting related businesses. He also has substantial experience in transactional and finance work for professional and technical services, real estate and healthcare clients. He was most recently a partner at Squire Patton Boggs in Northern Virginia for the past 17 years, and prior to that was a partner with Reed Smith Hazel & Thomas, Hazel & Thomas, and Hazel Beckhorn & Hanes since entering practice in 1981.

“Bob is an outstanding addition to our firm with more than three decades of experience that is very well matched to our client industries,” said Jeffrey S. Poretz, Miles & Stockbridge’s managing principal in Tysons Corner. “He will be a fantastic resource on corporate, financial and transactional matters.”

Webb is a member of the Board of Governors and past chair of the Business Law Section of the Virginia Bar Association. He also is a past chair of the Tax Section of the Fairfax Bar Association and the Tax Section of the Virginia State Bar. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. He also graduated with distinction with a bachelor’s degree from the university.

Recent D.C. Metro Lateral Hires

Last month Cameron Hamrick joined Miles & Stockbridge’s Government Contracts practice from Mayer Brown. Hamrick is a highly-regarded government contracts lawyer, litigator and counselor with three decades of experience. He continues to represent clients in bid protests, as well as in audits, contract disputes, False Claims Act litigation, and civil and criminal fraud investigations. He also continues to counsel clients on their ever-changing cyber security and cost accounting compliance requirements— areas in which he has considerable experience.

In February nine lawyers with significant affordable housing and tax credit capabilities joined Miles & Stockbridge’s Washington, D.C. office. Jerry Breed, Bill Driggers, Donna Rodney, John Dalton, Corenia Burlingame, Dawna Steelman, Megan Palmer, Robert Coberly and Jordana Hausman had been working together as the D.C.-based Tax Credit Advice Team at global law firm Bryan Cave.

In addition, Miles & Stockbridge had two lateral hires in its D.C. office at the end of 2017. Russ Randle, a leading environmental and export control lawyer, joined in November from Squire Patton Boggs. Holly Drumheller Butler, who counsels domestic and international companies in the areas of commercial and products liability litigation, corporate compliance and investigations, joined in October from DLA Piper.

“There is no doubt we are recruiting senior-level, world-class lawyers to our firm,” said Raymond Monroe, a principal in Miles & Stockbridge’s Government Contracts practice and co-leader of the firm’s Corporate, Securities & Tax practice. “The recent addition of Bob, Cameron and other senior lateral hires is terrific for our clients.”
