American Cancer Society Kicks Off Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Campaign, Aug. 2 at the Bullpen

WHAT: The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Baltimore kick off is an annual event to rally participation and excitement for the walk, which attracts between 5,000-6,000 participants, and will be held Saturday, October 20, 10 a.m., at the Tidal Basin. Guests at the kickoff include Making Strides team leaders, ambassadors and volunteers. There will be survivor speakers, networking and light food and refreshments.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) unites communities, honors those touched by the disease, and raises awareness and funds for a world without breast cancer. MSABC is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, with more than 1 million participants each year. Their efforts are helping more than 3.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. In 2018, an estimated 266,000 women in the U.S., including 5,940 in Maryland and 520 in the District of Columbia, are expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.

Dollars raised help the American Cancer Society fund innovative breast cancer research; provide education and guidance to help people reduce their risk; and offer comprehensive patient support to those who need it most.
