Jason M. Knott

Zuckerman Spaeder LLP is pleased to announce that Jason Knott, a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, is being honored by the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia with its Making Justice Real Pro Bono Award. The annual award recognizes attorneys who have provided outstanding pro bono service through individual representation and/or leadership in facilitating such representation by their colleagues.

Jason joined the firm in 2007 and focuses his practice on employment, insurance, and other complex litigation. He has always made time to take on pro bono matters, whether on his own or in partnership with Legal Aid. Over his years with the firm, Jason has committed hundreds of pro bono hours to matters involving foreclosure, landlord-tenant law, indigent criminal defense, and election law.

“When I came to Zuckerman Spaeder, it was important for me to have the opportunity to take on pro bono matters—something that is fully supported and encouraged by the firm,” said Jason. “Working with Legal Aid on significant cases, and providing life-changing legal services to those living in poverty, has been some of the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.”

Eleanor Smith, a partner at Zuckerman Spaeder and the head of the firm’s pro bono practice, said, “When our attorneys ask about pro bono work, we like to connect them with Legal Aid. Jason is one of those attorneys who found that connection and, over the years, made it his own. It is so gratifying to see him receive this award and I know he will continue this work for years to come.”

Jason will receive the Making Justice Real Pro Bono Award at a reception on October 9, 2018.

Legal Aid was created in 1932 with the goal of making justice real—in individual and systemic ways—for persons living in poverty in the District of Columbia. For more than 80 years, Legal Aid lawyers have provided a continuum of legal services to clients in the areas of domestic violence/family, housing, public benefits, and consumer law.
