Sage Communications Named a Top PR Place to Work in 2018 by PR News

10/3/18

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sage Communications (Sage) announced the agency has been selected as one of PR News’ 2018 Top Places to Work in PR. This award selects organizations across the country that excel across the various tenets of public relations, while also investing into their employees and ensuring an engaging workplace that helps them grow.

"We know that success begins with our people, and it’s imperative that they feel fulfilled, innovative, productive and cared after," said Julie Murphy, partner and senior vice president of public relations at Sage. "Our employees— “Sagers”— have access to boundless professional opportunities to generate impact and pursue their passions through agency, team and individual initiatives. Our ultimate goal is to make Sage the last place you ever work."

As part of Sage's efforts to create a workplace for all, the company offers employees a number of professional and personal development programs, including:

  • Employee Engagement Events – Each month our internal employee engagement team outlines four or five leisure activities for employees to participate in. Past events have included celebrating National Days, athletic events and the annual Thanksgiving celebration, "Sagegiving."
  • Flexible Work Schedules – Recognizing the need for flexibility in today's world, all Sagers are given the opportunity to work a half-day every other Friday.
  • Mentorship Program – An internal mentorship program was created to provide employees with one-on-one professional advice, industry insight, goal setting and social opportunities. The program aims to integrate new members into the Sage community and assist employees throughout their professional ascension at the company.
  • Sage Cares – On a bi-annual basis, Sage gives back to the D.C. metropolitan community through philanthropic events. Sage Cares has benefitted numerous regional organizations, including Northern Virginia Family Service.
  • Sage University (Sage U) – Sagers have access to an all-learn, all-teach collaborative model that focuses on sharing knowledge and techniques to create better strategists, storytellers, consultants and bridge-builders at every level within the company.
  • Sage Well – Created by an employee who recognized a need for personal wellness and development, SageWell offers monthly wellness events tied to various areas of personal well-being such as financial, physical and mental health.

"Taking care of our employees is not only the right thing to do, it also has a direct impact on the growth and success of our company," David Gorodetski, co-founder, COO and executive creative director at Sage. "By taking care of our people, they take care of our clients and that takes care of the business."

Due in part to Sage's heavy focus on employee engagement the company has successfully decreased agency turnover by nearly 80 percent over the past three years.
