An advocate for Veterans, Anthony will develop and manage the company’s IT strategy.

Lorien Health Services, a family owned nursing home company and industry innovator, announced the hiring of Air Force Veteran, Jennifer Anthony, as Managing Director of Information Technology.

In this new role, Anthony will be responsible for managing the strategy and execution of all IT initiatives for Lorien. This includes overseeing technical and web development projects, identifying new market opportunities, and leading a team to find solutions to adequately manage daily business activities.

“Without Jennifer’s expertise in the IT department, Lorien’s progressive healthcare strategies could not be managed,” said Louis Grimmel Sr., CEO of Lorien Health Services. “This is a great addition for us. We are always proud to hire a Veteran, especially one as experienced and dedicated to her craft like Jennifer.”

Anthony began her military service in 1998 as a computer systems operator for the United States Air Force. She served in a number of roles to include Master Instructor and Project Manager. In 2005, she was hand-selected to manage the procurement and installation of a Department of Defense global weather communication systems valued at over $400 million. Anthony also directed the operations and maintenance of a $41 million cyber weapons system upgrade. In 2009, she was selected to serve as a First Sergeant and spent the next 4 years of her career in the Operations, Medical, and Aircraft Maintenance fields. In this role she was responsible for leading teams ranging from 145 to 750 personnel. She was the primary advisor to all senior stakeholder programs and procedures regarding, staffing, recruitment and retention, employee training and development, and employee relations.

In 2017, Anthony was transferred to serve as the Air, Education and Training command, Cyberspace Operations Career Field Manager, where she directed the development and utilization of 11,000 Cyberspace Warfare and Operations professionals.

“Many times in my life, there’s been an unforeseen fork in the road and my arrival at Lorien is one of them. I was not planning to transition to this type of work.” Anthony said. “My entire adult life had been dedicated to the service of my country and leaving the Air Force felt bittersweet until I realized I didn’t need a uniform to continue to serve others. I visited Lorien’s facilities during my interview process and really fell in love with the work they do. I instantly felt connected to the mission of the company and decided I wanted to be part of the selfless and dedicated team at Lorien.”

Aside from her military service and her newfound home with Lorien, Anthony has been deeply dedicated to helping Veterans transition to civilian careers. She has spoken at Veteran commission boards, helped Veterans with resumés, job searches, and overall transition back to civilian life. She also provides homeless Veterans in Baltimore with “blessing bags,” which contain a toothbrush, toothpaste, new socks, and a business card with information on how to contact their local Veteran’s Affairs office for assistance.

“I was driving through downtown Baltimore and passed a man holding a sign that said Homeless Veteran” says Anthony. “He had a prosthetic leg and appeared haggard and down on his luck. I pulled over to talk with him and asked why, when he had given so much for his country, had he not turned to the VA for assistance. His response what that he didn’t know how and he wasn’t sure what services they offered or how to contact them for help. After this exchange, my family and I felt compelled to find a way to make a difference. We now carry blessing bags and VA info cards to provide to any Veteran we meet who is in need.”

Anthony attended Bellevue University from 2006 to 2016, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and a Master of Science in Leadership and Executive Coaching. She also attended the Community College of the Air Force from 2002 to 2011 graduating with multiple Associate degrees in Information Systems Technology, Human Resources, and Military Science.
