Tenants of the building for nearly a decade already, American Councils chose to stay on the top two floors of 1828 L Street, NW and with the new lease was also able to negotiate the possibility for future expansion beyond its current footprint.

The Washington DC office will continue to serve as American Councils’ headquarters, from which it administers cultural exchange, language training, and professional development programs across the United States and in 85 countries around the world. With more than 40 years of experience and a worldwide staff of 450, the non-profit has built a legacy through the 89,000 alumni of its programs which include national leaders, members of parliament, ambassadors and business leaders.

Located in downtown Washington on the corner of 19th and L Streets, 1828 L Street has 260,000 square feet of office space with ground level retail including Fitness First and Corner Bakery Cafe. The Tower Companies owned building is two blocks from the Farragut North Metro Station, and surrounded by numerous restaurants, shops, and hotels.
