Health Facilities Association of Maryland Launches New Website

3/18/19

The Health Facilities Association of Maryland (HFAM) announced today the launch of Maryland Care for the Aging, a new website to offer comprehensive information on skilled nursing and assisted living careers in Maryland.

Care for The Aging” provides information on a range of common careers available at skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers and assisted living campuses throughout Maryland, including education requirements, salary ranges based on national data, and possible paths for career advancement. The site can also link individuals seeking educational opportunities, internships, or job placements with facilities looking to fill those roles.

HFAM is a vibrant community of more than 165 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers and assisted living campuses in Maryland that engages in public policy, advocacy, and training for the benefit of all long-term care providers dedicated to delivering high quality care to Marylanders in need.

HFAM developed the new website in partnership with 17 other state affiliates of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) to serve the needs of its members and to provide information about long-term care career opportunities.

“Skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers and assisted living campuses are thriving communities that employ a diverse range of individuals called to careers centered around helping people,” said Joe DeMattos, HFAM President and CEO. “These professionals find great reward in serving elders and others in need. Professional caregivers and their colleagues are the heart and soulof our communities.”

DeMattos also stressed the variety of opportunities and career ladders for professionals in skilled nursing and assisted living. In addition to health care fields such as nursing, medicine, physical therapy, and social services, he highlighted the many critical support careers including administration, dietary support, and maintenance.

“There is honor, value, and leadership in each and every one of these professions,” DeMattos added.

Staff at skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers and assisted living campuses work on collaborative teams, maximizing and utilizing each person’s unique skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care to patients. In the process, residents and staff form lasting bonds as they work together to achieve or maintain maximum independence for each individual.
