Arlington-based non-profit, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), announced four new additions to its Board of Directors.

Board Chair, Jim Geringer, former Wyoming Governor, notes the new Board stating, "We are very pleased to have the engagement of these highly-respected leaders in the space, education, and conservation fields. As we proudly mark IGES's 25th year, these new members are key to shaping the organization's next chapter of enriching Earth science, observations, and education."

The new Board members include:

• Mr. Bill Klanke, CEO & Publisher, Space Intel Report
• Dr. Kathy MacKinnon, Chair, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA)
• Ms. Kelly J. McGrath, Vice President and Chief Academic and Product Development Officer, McGraw-Hill Education
• Dr. Thomas Snitch, Director, Federal Relations, Bowling Green State University

In addition to Geringer, the new Board members join current member and IGES President, Nancy Colleton. Dr. Shelby G. Tilford, former NASA Assistant Administrator for Mission to Planet Earth, remains involved as an emeritus member of the Board.

"It's very exciting to become part of the IGES Board at this pivotal time. IGES's work in communicating science, implementing citizen science projects for challenges such as Zika mitigation, and continuing to leverage space technology for conservation and environmental awareness are all important areas of focus as we collectively leverage technology to inform decisions in our daily lives," notes McGrath.

Since 1994, IGES has pursued its mission to apply space-based Earth observations and environmental information to further science, improve intelligence for decision-making, and advance education.
