McGuireWoods, a leading international law firm, executed a 50,000-square-foot lease to relocate its Washington, DC operations to 888 16th Street, NW in the central business district. The Savills team of Tom Fulcher, David Lipson and Adam Brecher represented McGuireWoods in the long-term lease transaction on multiple floors of the recently redeveloped office space. The projected move-in date is scheduled for 4th quarter of 2020.
“This relocation marks the culmination of an exhaustive process of identifying numerous office options in the DC market. As the firm moves forward, the space at 888 16th Street meets our specific needs in terms of the image and quality of the building, floor size and configuration, a central location for our clients, attorneys, and staff, and an opportunity to create a new space that meets the needs of the firm into the future. We are pleased with the support from the Savills team whose strong knowledge of the local market helped guide us through this process,” said Todd Mullins, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ DC office.
The law firm will relocate more than 90 attorneys and professional staff from its current location at 2001 K Street, NW to the recently updated building adjacent to the Hay-Adams Hotel at the corner of 16th and Eye Streets, NW.
“McGuireWoods set out to reimagine its workspace to provide a more effective and modernized environment. After looking at a wide array of options, 888 16th really set itself apart with its column-free spaces, its attractive amenities and its scenic views from the roof deck and from the office floors,” said Fulcher.
Owned and redeveloped by Trammell Crow Company and its partner Meadow Partners, 888 16th Street, NW was previously 100% owned by the Motion Picture Association, which now has a condominium interest in the project. The 150,000-square-foot building includes state-of-the-art features such as a fitness center and a rooftop lounge and terrace that overlooks the White House. The building is located within blocks of the McPherson Square, Farragut West and Farragut North Metro Stations.
