The Verve Partnership providing interior architectural design services

Located in the historic neighborhood of Jackson Ward in Richmond, Virginia, Jackson Ward Multi-family Homes is nearing completion. The interior architectural amenity spaces for this project has been designed by The Verve Partnership, established leaders in providing interior architectural design services. This project is part of a redevelopment of the site left vacant by the construction of a nearby highway.

The development came together through a public-private partnership. Community Preservation and Development Corporation (CPDC) and Enterprise Community Partners worked with six government agencies—the City of Richmond, the Federal Home Loan Bank, the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority, the State of Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, the Virginia Housing Development Authority, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and its private funder SunTrust Bank. Additional assistance came from Low Income Housing Tax Credit and HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration program.

The development includes three new buildings and the adaptive reuse of an existing convent. “We are so proud to have contributed to the interior architecture for such a significant project in this historically pertinent neighborhood,” Kelly Ennis, Founder/Managing Principal of The Verve Partnership stated. “A community reconnected is paramount to our philosophy of creating spaces that focus on people, purpose and place,” she further explains.

Both CPDC and Enterprise Community Partners, Inc., are charitable organizations whose vision is that one day, every person will have an affordable home in a vibrant community, filled with promise and the opportunity for a good life. Using high-level collaboration by studying people and place, The Verve Partnership is steeped in brand with an examination of unique cultures – starting from the “inside-out”.

“This development will create better homes for more than 150 households and help rebuild a community scarred by a highway,” Matt Engel, senior development officer at CPDC. “Thanks to the partnership of two nonprofits, six government agencies, and one private financial institution, Jackson Ward will move low-income seniors from an aging high-rise to new, energy efficient homes, create mixed-income housing, provide retail space, and re-knit part of a neighborhood that has been a center of African American history.”

The Verve Partnership is MDOT Certified WBE. Construction is being provided by Harkins.
