Former director of emerging adult services, James Ryan, joins executive team to strengthen all aspects of inpatient clinical and family and patient support services
Ashley Addiction Treatment (Ashley), one of the world’s most recognizable and respected names in the substance use disorder treatment industry, announced that James M. Ryan, LCPC has been named vice president of clinical services.
In his new role, Ryan will be responsible for the oversight of all areas of inpatient clinical services and Family and Patient Support Services departments including the professional development and training of all clinical employees. Alongside Ashley’s expert staff across the organization, he will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical services throughout the Ashley continuum of care and ensure that the Ashley standard of excellence is a part of every patient’s treatment experience.

Prior to his new position, Ryan served as director of emerging adult services at Ashley. He started his tenure with Ashley in August of 2016 and has held several positions as a counselor as well as assistant program director in the emerging adult services division of Ashley where he managed counselors, extended care counselors and extended care counselor technicians. Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree from Towson University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from South University, West Palm Beach. He has been certified as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
As Ashley makes this addition to its leadership team, it recently opened its relocated Outpatient Treatment Center in Bel Air, now part of the Klein Family Harford Crisis Center at 802 Baltimore Pike, as well as its first Women’s Extended Care Program and Residence at a private facility in Churchville to provide long-term, gender-specialized treatment for women last November.
