The NIHFC Union Introduces Zelle to its Digital Banking Members

12/22/20

The National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union(NIHFCU), which marked 80 years of continued service this year, today announced that Zelleis now live in its secure online banking and mobile app platforms. Providing access to Zelle enables convenient digital payments for more than 41,000 NIHFCU members, many of whom work in the healthcare and biomedical industries.

“This is the next step in our evolution to be a mobile-first institution,” said Rick Wieczorek, NIHFCU’s president & CEO. “As a healthcare credit union, so many of our members work long shifts often at unconventional hours. Being able to offer Zelle within our digital banking options provides them a fast, safe and easy way to send money from anywhere at any time.”

Money sent with Zelle goes directly from one bank account in the U.S. to another, using only a recipient’s email address or U.S. mobile number. Funds are typically available within minutes when both parties are already enrolled with Zelle. Consumers who are not enrolled and receive a payment notification or a request for payment can enroll through their financial institution or by downloading the Zelle app if their financial institution does not participate.

Wieczorek added, “From our mobile banking app to our Interactive Teller Machines which allow for live face-to-face video interaction, NIHFCU will continue to enhance our modern, technology-focused banking experience for our members.”
