First Complimentary MML Benefit Launches at 2018 Fall Conference

The Maryland Municipal League is excited to join public relations and strategic communications firm Van Eperen to offer the first-of-its-kind benefit to its municipal members, complimentary crisis communications consulting services.

“Van Eperen has a strong partnership with the Maryland Municipal League and we’ve been fortunate to serve some of the members with our public relations services,” said Laura Van Eperen, CEO of Van Eperen. “We’re very excited to be able to provide this additional benefit to municipal members and prepare our local leaders before crisis strikes.”

As part of membership to the Maryland Municipal League, members will now receive professional crisis management communication consulting services from Van Eperen. The initial consultation is complimentary for any appointed or elected official which is an MML member.

The crisis communication services can prepare municipalities to react appropriately to weather events, among others, that would require immediate action.

“All municipalities must prepare for crises with logistical plans and contingencies, but not every member has a lot of experience or a thorough plan for messaging and communicating with stakeholders during those trying times,” said Scott Hancock, MML’s Executive Director. “I know every city and town in Maryland will find great value in this professional service offering.”

Van Eperen has years of experience working with state and local agencies and municipal government providing traditional and modern communication services.

“Van Eperen has been a strategic communication partner to the Town of Poolesville for several years and their counsel and support has been critical to bringing more attention and equity to our town. We highly recommend them to our municipal colleagues,” said Jim Brown, Town of Poolesville Commissioner.
