Maryland Public Television (MPT) continues its tradition of providing viewers valuable insights into successfully navigating the college selection and financial aid process with Ways to Pay for College, a live, one-hour special airing Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m. on MPT-HD. A live stream of the program also will be available at mpt.org/college and remain there for viewing following the broadcast.

Ways to Pay for College originates this year from MPT’s studios and the campus of Goucher College in Baltimore County. Baltimore television journalist Kerry Cavanaugh is host for the live portion of the broadcast, while co-host Mario Armstrong contributes recorded segments guiding viewers through the twists and turns of finding money for college.

During this fast-paced program viewers will hear from financial aid professionals and learn about government initiatives such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Maryland’s Student Load Debt Relief Tax Act. The program will also feature success stories from Maryland

students who conducted financial aid research and made smart choices in selecting their colleges and career paths.

Viewers are encouraged to email their questions to college@mpt.org before, during, and after the program. To date, Ways to Pay for College financial aid experts have answered hundreds of questions about government aid and paperwork, public and private education grants, scholarships, and student loans.

In addition, on Wednesday, September 30 at 7 p.m. MPT will offer a special virtual screening of the one-hour broadcast on a viewing platform called OVEE. A panel of experts will be part of this screening to answer questions, share tips, and provide resources during and after the program using the OVEE chat feature. To register for this screening, visit https://ovee.itvs.org/screenings/m6el4.

MPT-HD will also air a half-hour recorded version of Ways to Pay for College on Saturday, September 26 at 11 a.m.
